I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i’m new to Lemmy and looking for a good client to use it with. I’ve been using Sync which is what i used to use with Reddit but i’ve noticed that it isn’t getting updates now. Any other good mobile apps I can usr Lemmy with?
I’ve been pretty happy with Blorp. They have mobile and web clients available
+1 for Blorp, moved there from Voyager after seeing active development.
Blorp dev here. Thanks for the support! Not only is the app actively maintained, but I do my best to lurk in the comments and help people with any issues.
Is it possible to move profile button down to the bottom?
Thanks a ton. I was really struggling with the transition when using a few of the above mentioned apps…before I settled on Blorp.
Oh, I forgot to mention the desktop app!!
Is it possible to show downvotes? I wonder why so few apps have it.
Out of my current apps, only voyager has it for posts and comments at all times and kinda thunder (for posts when clicked on) But it could be in the settings for more and I haven’t checked.
On web/desktop you can hover over the score. I can add an option to show downvotes by default.
Eternity is great
Used to be my main and fav client (after Jerboa), but it hasn’t been updated in a year and Summit is just plain better and almost as customisable
Voyager hands down
There’s a problem that it seems to use a lot of memory, because it’s a web browser in disguise. As a consequence, any time another app needs memory, Voyager is killed by Android and starts again from the main page, forgetting what I was doing. Oftentimes it’s enough to switch to the actual browser and back again for Voyager to restart, which is ironic for a link-aggregator app.
Its animations are janky for the same reason, and get in the way of some functionality like collapsing comments.
Voyager’s UI is great, mainly because it’s not flashy, but a native app with that UI would be a lot better. RedReader for Reddit is much smoother to use.
I’m quite happy with Voyager, never used anything else.
Maybe you should use something else in order to see the larger picture. It‘s hard to know what you really want when you don‘t compare.
I tried blorp, and voyager is much better
What was the dealbreaker with Blorp and how can I make it better?
The biggest two things is that the profile button is all the way up in the top right corner, away from the thumbs, which is inconvenient if you want to find your past posts / comments.
Voyager has it down at the bottom.
The other things is I’ve gotten used to the “pull from the side to like a post” feature from Voyager, and I keep trying to do it in blorp but nothing happens lol. But that isn’t the dealbreaker, just a nice to have.I do really like the color scheme of blorp, especially the color of the heart for a liked post! And I still use it daily because Voyager doesn’t support piefed. Thank you for writing your software, giving it away for free, AND listening to users!
