It’s still needlessly oversimplifying to imply that all or only western governments work with authoritarian leaders who are friendly to their interests, for example. There’s plenty of non-western countries happy to spread bloodshed and tyranny, and there’s plenty of western countries that oppose it.

Americans when they don’t realize most of the West isn’t American, don’t speak English, and don’t generally oppose rebellion against oppressors. Ireland, for example.

Americans: “Our FPTP two-party electoral college system doesn’t work. Clearly democracy doesn’t work.”

Meanwhile in Canada we just voted for dental care. Europeans just voted to take on big tech corporations.

I think the problem is years of “it’s not my job to educate you, sweetie”. Turns out it is our job to educate them. Because they vote.
